Jack-o-lanterns by Room 4

Happy Halloween to all of our Room 4 Families and beyond.  Be safe and have a great night!

Halloween Art

In this art project we used glue and oil pastels. Enjoy!

Carving Pumpkins

Today was a very special day. We measured, weighed, compared and of course, carved our pumpkins!  The students worked exceptionally well together by problem solving, collaborating, sharing and taking turns. I was very impressed by their behaviour, and the jack-o-lanterns look pretty amazing too!  They'll look fantastic in the annual Operation  Halloween obstacle course in the gym.

Thanks to all the parents and guardians of Dominique, Daniel, Jacob, Riley, Zane, Sarah, Callie, Bradley and Kieran who got snacks for our Halloween Party!

Pajama Time!

Recently, as a reward for our "20th Marble" our class had a pajama party, complete with muffins and juice for a morning snack!  It was a fantastic way to start the day!

Books, Books, Everywhere!

The teachers at our school have been spending a lot time collaborating with eachother lately.  We all agree that we want our students to have a wide variety of books to choose from, and have easy access to them.  Due to these conversations, many of us are beginning to take a closer look at our classroom libraries.

Room 4 recently took some time to take inventory of the books we have and organize them into categories.  We know this will help us easily find the books we are most interested in.

After organizing, our next step will be to add new titles to our library. Thankfully, I have gotten the go ahead to purchase even more books to add to our ever-growing collection!

Here are some pictures of us discussing which books should be grouped together. Once we're all set up, I'll be sure to post some more pictures!

Happy Reading!

Digging to Learn About Our Past

A few weeks ago, our class headed to the Transcona Historical Museum to learn about Aboriginal Oral Traditions and Tools. We had the opportunity to perform an archeological dig and found many artifacts from the past. Here are some pictures.

What a great time!!

Cardboard Arcade!

Our class had a fantastic time visiting Room 18's Cardboard Arcade!  What a wonderful way to practice adding, subtracting and using large numbers. My students had a blast getting the tickets, stickers and other small rewards. Best of all, they were learning AND having fun!  Thanks for inviting us Mr. H!

Great, but chilly day at Birds Hill Park!

Today was the annual "Turkey Trot" Cross Country Running event for our school.  Temperatures were a little low, but the students had a great time. Next year though, I will be sure to bring my parka just in case! Here we are, runners all ready to go!  I'll be sure to post some pictures from Birds Hill soon. Have a great weekend, everyone!
